The Cowboys' defense is not going to gain a lot of respect. Simply too difficult with a hurry-up offense Brandon Weeden commands so effectively, using an All-American receiver, Justin Blackmon, as his go-to target.
Still, it was the Oklahoma State tacklers who came up big at critical stages to boost the Cowboys past Texas, 38-26, in an Oct. 15 road game.
Daytawion Lowe stripped the ball from Texas quarterback David Ash with under five minutes remaining to seal the outcome. And by preventing Fozzy Whittaker to score on a fourth-down pass play earlier in the quarter, the Cowboys protected a 14-point margin.
Of the points the Longhorns scored, only 17 were against the Oklahoma State defense as the Cowboys improved to 6-0 by becoming the first school since Oklahoma in 1910-11 to beat Texas in Austin in consecutive seasons. It also was the Cowboys' eighth consecutive on the road.
